They are a women-led organisation grounded in cultural authority, community, and deep listening. This is more than an admin role — this is a culturally sacred entry point for women seeking healing and safety. As Intake & Assessment Officer, you’ll: Gently guide women through SWT’s intake and eligibility process Provide trauma-informed assessments and brief solution-focused support Link women to services and refer when needed Maintain accurate records and data entry in the client management system Support healing-based group programs and assist with welcome packs Represent SWT’s values of respect, cultural safety, and sisterhood in every interaction This role is for you if you: Are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman Have experience or understanding of family and domestic violence Are grounded in community and can sit in safety with women experiencing trauma Can hold professional boundaries while being culturally responsive Are confident with phone-based support, intake systems, and note-taking Understand the importance of women’s business and culturally safe support systems Mandatory Requirements Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identify as Female, as this is a women’s business role Hold or be willing to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check Applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Identified Status – Must identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman (requirement under s25 and s104 of the QLD Anti-Discrimination Act and s8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act). Cultural Understanding – Demonstrated knowledge and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, with a strong understanding of women’s business, cultural protocols, and trauma-informed support practices. Client Engagement – Experience or capacity to engage sensitively and appropriately with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women impacted by gendered violence, including through yarning and culturally safe communication. Administrative Skills – Ability to manage client intake processes, maintain accurate records, manage waitlists, and use client management systems confidently. Community Connection – Local knowledge and/or lived experience within community, with strong cultural ties and a commitment to walking alongside women on their healing journeys. Professionalism & Confidentiality – Capacity to manage sensitive information with discretion, work as part of a close team, and uphold the values of Strong Women Talking in all interactions. Desirable – Experience in community services, domestic violence support, or healing-based programs. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
