Location: Sydney-based (remote or hybrid work available) Employment Type: Part-time, 3 days per week (with potential to increase to 4 days) About Blue Art Journal Blue Art Journal (Blue) is a new digital visual arts publication dedicated to elevating global Indigenous ways of knowing and understanding through multimodal approaches to reading, writing, listening, and speaking about Indigenous visual art. Blue will redefine how critical and experimental Indigenous voices are preserved and shared. Blue is a micro‑organisation and non‑profit charity funded through digital subscriptions, advertising, sponsorships, and government grants. Blue is overseen by a Board of Directors that includes First Nations leaders in visual arts scholarship, practice, and curation, as well as non‑Indigenous experts in business and finance. Blue is seeking an energetic, tech‑savvy, and creative First Nations Publication Manager to help lead the organisation through its exciting first year and beyond. This is an identified position for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. As the primary member of staff, the Publication Manager will manage all aspects of Blue’s operations — from administration and finances to digital publishing, marketing, and community engagement. Working closely with Blue’s Board of Directors, guest editors, and the Power Institute team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping Blue’s public presence, digital output, and sustainable future. This is a unique opportunity to help lead and grow Australia’s first Indigenous‑led arts publication at a formative moment in its development. Key Responsibilities Operations & Administration Manage day‑to‑day administration, correspondence, and records. Maintain archives and coordinate annual reporting, including Creative Australia reporting and ACNC compliance. Oversee production schedules and project timelines for quarterly issues. Coordinate logistics and communication between Blue, the Power Institute, and the Board of Directors. Handle bookkeeping, payroll, superannuation, and timesheets. Manage invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and debt collection. Prepare financial reports, budgets, and assist with annual audits. Grants & Funding Research and identify funding and sponsorship opportunities. Prepare high‑quality grant applications and project budgets. Manage reporting, acquittals, and compliance for funded projects. Digital Publishing & Web Management Upload quarterly issues to the Blue Art Journal website. Maintain and update site content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and brand consistency. Manage digital subscriptions and audience engagement. Marketing & Communications Develop and execute social media and digital marketing strategies. Promote issues, events, and partnerships across online channels. Build and maintain relationships with artists, organisations, and advertisers. Prepare reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence for the Board of Directors. Collaborate with guest editors and contributors on quarterly issues. Work with the Board to deliver organisational goals and build Blue’s profile. Selection Criteria Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Energetic, digitally confident, and proactive, with excellent communication skills. Strong organisational and administrative experience, including financial management. Proven ability to write and acquit grants or manage funded projects. Experience in digital publishing, content management systems, or online media. Competent with Xero, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Understanding of the Australian visual arts and publishing sectors. Experience in digital marketing, audience growth, or content creation. Location: Sydney‑based office (supported by the Power Institute); remote or hybrid work welcomed. Hours: 3 days per week (potential to increase to 4). Reports to: Board of Directors. A brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and what excites you about Blue Art Journal. The National Indigenous Times acknowledges and pays respect to past and present Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation. We recognise Aboriginal Community's continuing connection to their lands, waters and stories and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. #J-18808-Ljbffr
