Our specialist programmes further enrich the curriculum and include Auslan, Library, Physical Education, STEM, and Visual Arts . Inclusion and Support Mentone Primary School proudly promotes an inclusive learning environment. We support several students with a Disability Inclusion Profile (Tier 3) through a collaborative team of teachers and education support staff. Tier 2 funding further enables targeted interventions to support students with additional needs, ensuring every child can succeed. Beyond the Classroom Our comprehensive outdoor education programme runs from Year 3 to Year 6, including camps and interschool sporting competitions. Students also develop confidence and teamwork skills through our structured student leadership programme , which features PLAY Leaders, Student Leaders, and four School Captains . Community and Wellbeing Our Out of School Hours Care is provided by Team Kids , a recognised leader in Before and After School Care and Holiday Programs. In partnership with Foodbank , our Breakfast Club supports student wellbeing and fosters a positive start to the school day. Selection Criteria SC1 – Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs. SC2 – Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programmes on student learning growth. SC3 – Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents. SC4 – Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement. SC5 – Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges—range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programmes to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, effectively engage students and enhance their learning. As teachers gain experience, their contribution to the school programme beyond the classroom increases. All teachers may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to their salary range, qualifications, training and experience. Range 2 Classroom Teacher Play a significant role in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to school policy and priority implementation. Assist in increasing the knowledge base of staff about student learning and high‑quality instruction. Be expected to: Have content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students. Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers in critical reflection and practice. Provide expert advice about curriculum and instructional strategies. Supervise and train student teachers. Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches and achieve improvement targets. Range 1 Classroom Teacher Develop skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner under structured support and guidance. Responsible for the effective delivery of programmes, classroom management, subject content and teaching practice. Participate in policy development, project teams and co‑curriculum activities. Provide structured support, mentoring and guidance to new entrants; participate in induction events and professional learning activities. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students. Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or other curriculum programmes. Undertaking other teaching‑related and organisational duties as determined by the Principal. Participating in parent‑teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions. Undertaking other non‑teaching supervisory duties. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position. If the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate that they have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education programme. A person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education programme after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr
