For more information, please visit our website: Position Overview As our Media and Communications Officer, you will report to our Chief Executive Officer and work closely alongside our community facing teams. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement communications and engagement plans for important events and significant project milestones in the Victoria Daly Region. By doing this you will bolster our community and stakeholder relationships. Collaborating with our Executive team you will project manage the development of the Council's regional plan and content for our annual report. These documents are mandatory for the Council to publish and include KPI's for service delivery and success stories that we share with our staff, customers, community and funding bodies. You will be responsible for sourcing, creating, designing and curating our social media presence so digital skills are vital. This is remote, flexible role , applicants can be either Katherine based or can work Remotely. While this role is based out of our Katherine Regional office, you will regularly travel out to really remote communities in our region to build relationships with the community and cover events. Key Responsibilities Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders of the Council. Source, produce, collate, and edit content for the Council’s key publications and communications. Deliver consistent messaging across all media platforms that align with the Council’s plans and advocacy objectives. Develop and maintain constructive relationships with the media and communications entities and our funding bodies. Draft media statements as required and correspondence to Ministers and other stakeholders. Lead and mentor the Council’s Remote Indigenous Broadcasting Service officers, a small team of 3. About You Qualifications or demonstrated experience in journalism, media, or public affairs. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond quickly and sensitively under pressure. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail Demonstrated ability to write media releases, articles, and reports and undertake research and manage the advertising requirements of the organisation. Understanding of current affairs, politics, and culturally diverse communities. Skilled in building and maintaining strong stakeholder and media relationships. Other Requirements or ability to obtain Criminal History Check (recent, within 3 months) A current Working with Children’s Card (Ochre Card) or ability to obtain.
