Production Supervisor

About the role The Production Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Production Manager (NSW) to provide frontline supervision to our production employees and ensure product is produced to meet deadlines while maintaining the best quality product for our customers. The position is responsible for the day-to-day management of people within production, to ensure company’s targets and objectives are met to meet customer requirements, ensuring that staff comply with Health & Safety standard operation procedures. Responsibilities Leadership Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is always maintained. Drive performance of team, giving direction and feedback to aid high performance. Promote and foster positive and safety culture in the workplace. Lead, manage and hold all production employees accountable. Proactive approach to continuous improvement to optimise productivity. Production Always prioritise health and safety of employees and a be a safety champion. Prepare and communicate work plans and delegate and oversee production process to ensure meeting the daily/monthly targets. Ensure the production staff are motivated to achieve excellent customer service, and agile enough to facilitate special requests when the need arises. Communicate regularly with staff on expectations performance. Collaborate and liaise with other departments to progress issues concerning production planning, resources, human resources to always ensure the smooth operations. Achieve the required company quality standards ensuring both internal and external customer satisfaction. Monitor and adjust workloads on machines to meet production schedules and monitor production output and identify bottlenecks or delays. Assist the Production Manager to prioritise workload when necessary. Ensure stock is available for machine operation requirements to ensure efficient and optimum use of all materials – stock and consumables. Ensure stock take is performed accurately and efficiently. Support continuous improvement initiatives such as ToC & 5S. Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with specifications in line with our QMS. Motivate the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced. Strive to exceed the company targets in productivity, efficiency and quality on a continuous basis. Support any implementation of changes and ensure staff buy-in. Conduct incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure. Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them. Ensure KPIs are met by working to the Operational Plan. Work with the Maintenance team to ensure all scanners for machines and loading are functional and report any problems. Ensure machines are working properly and pre-starts are conducted. Coordinate with maintenance, quality, & logistics to maintain smooth operations. Effectively communicate with shift handover with arriving or departing Production Supervisor and/or Team Leader/Senior Operator. Others Authorise leave applications and ensuring the accurate leave type is taken and submitted into the system. Assist Payroll team to ensure all production staff are paid correctly every fortnight. Review data on Power BI to aid training, coaching , and mentoring of operators on safe and efficient practices. Other duties as directed by the Production Manager, State Manager and/or National Management Team. Who we are looking for Minimum 3 years frontline management and/or leadership experience in medium/large manufacturing companies (or similar) Knowledge of steel manufacturing products and how to operate machines Experience with production software, such as SAP or ARMA+, and Microsoft suits Possess the ability to lead and motivate a team of people to succeed by utilising appropriate leadership skills Ability to supervise, manage and facilitate others in a positive way Ability to train and mentor other employees Demonstrated ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively Ability to organise schedules, people and equipment for maximum production Strong problem solving and organisational skills Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining safety and quality practices Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Adaptable to change and varying situations Ability to show resilience and flexible approach At Bestbar we offer “Our strong belief in ‘family culture’ allows us to build lasting relationships based on trust and integrity with sub-contractors, employees, and clients”.
