About the office/school The Mission of the School of Medicine, Sydney is to develop and train excellent, caring and ethical doctors. About the role This position works in collaboration with academic and professional colleagues to provide effective and efficient laboratory support for the MD programme. Key Responsibilities Provide technical, operational and administrative support for teaching and promotional activities within the School. Oversee and manage day‑to‑day activities of laboratories to ensure laboratory operations are running effectively. Prepare, set up and pack down the laboratory/teaching spaces and classroom materials to support learning and teaching activities in the School. Assist with the coordination, organisation and preparation of resources required for learning and teaching activities including the purchase of equipment and laboratory consumables. Maintain stock, including the storage and handling of hazardous substances in accordance with University and legislative guidelines; responsible for servicing of equipment and ensuring it is functional and safe to use. Establish and maintain safety documentation such as risk assessments, safety audits and standard operating procedures for laboratory and field activities. Qualifications, skills & experience Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience, or completion of an advanced diploma qualification and at least 1 year’s subsequent relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated laboratory experience, preferably in tertiary or higher education sectors. Experience in the demonstration and use of equipment in a learning and teaching environment. Demonstrated high level of computer literacy and proficiency using Microsoft Office applications. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
