Nepean Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team. This is a pivotal clinical leadership role focused on providing expert care, education, and support to patients with stomas, and related wounds, as well as their families and carers. As a CNS in Stoma Therapy, you will lead by example in delivering high-quality, evidence-based Nursing care and act as a Clinical Resource for Nursing and Medical staff across the hospital. You will work collaboratively with Surgical, Gastroenterology, and Wound care teams to ensure optimal outcomes for patients requiring care. The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 - Stoma Therapy is responsible for the pre-operative assessment and post-operative management of patients undergoing bowel surgery and formation of stoma. The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) is a Registered Nurse who applies a high level of clinical nursing knowledge, experience and skills in providing complex nursing care directed towards a specific area of practice, a defined population or defined service area, with minimum direct supervision. You will be a highly motivated and clinically proficient nurse who demonstrates advanced knowledge and leadership in stomal therapy. What you will bring to the role: Current registration with AHPRA - Division 1 Registered Nurse Post-registration Qualifications in Stoma Therapy At least 3 years full time equivalent experience working in Gastrointestinal Surgery and/or Stoma Therapy Committed to champion, educate and lead a multidisciplinary team to improve patients’ outcomes as part of a team; Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities according to best practice Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, carers and a diverse range of health care providers Demonstrated commitment to clinical practice development Ability to work independently with minimal supervision maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
