Full-time, Continuing Position Academic Level E ($219,084 p.a. + 17% Superannuation) Flexible Working Arrangements Available Location: Melbourne CBD Campus (may be required to work at other campuses) Shape the Future of Sustainable Structural Design RMIT University invites an accomplished and visionary scholar to join the Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering as Professor, Structural Engineering . This role offers the opportunity to lead research and teaching in innovative structural systems, modular and prefabricated design, high-performance, low-carbon materials, driving the next generation of resilient, sustainable infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Lead multidisciplinary research programs and high-performing teams delivering transformative outcomes in structural design and systems innovation. Build and strengthen global research collaborations and strategic partnerships across academia, government, and industry. Inspire and mentor staff and students while embedding best-practice teaching strategies that enhance student learning and graduate outcomes. Contribute to School and College-level strategic planning and play a key role in shaping the future direction of engineering education and research at RMIT. Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to manage award program/s and lead program reviews. Demonstrated distinction at the national level and an internationally recognised research track record in structural design, innovative prefabricated/modular structural systems, and high-performance and low-carbon materials. Proven ability to sustain and grow Research Groups and Centres through the attraction of external funding, leveraging external networks. Extensive experience in attracting and supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance. Demonstrated ability to lead improvement of academic standards, including implementing best practice teaching strategies and dissemination of innovative practices in structural design of Engineering infrastructure. Evidence of demonstrated strategic leadership in a large organisational unit or University-wide initiative and effective membership of a management team that developed and achieved shared goals and objectives. Demonstrated experience in financial, governance, and quality management systems within a University. Demonstration of RMIT values and behavioural expectations. High level of interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, produce executive reports, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes, and targets within a collaborative environment. Qualifications Mandatory: PhD in relevant field. Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
