Social Worker – Geriatric Medicine, Westmead Hospital Western Sydney Local Health District Westmead, NSW A$76,364 – $108,943 per annum Employment Type: Permanent Full Time Hours per Week: 38 What you will be doing Deliver psychosocial assessments, counselling, crisis intervention, and advocacy Support patients and families through complex issues such as elder abuse and guardianship Participate in ward rounds, patient care meetings, and multidisciplinary discussions Provide education to staff and supervision to social work students Engage in evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and departmental initiatives How to apply Apply online by submitting your resume and addressing the selection criteria below with examples of your experience. Required qualifications Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). Qualification: Bachelor of Social Work. Unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence and ability to participate in the After Hours Crisis On‑Call Social Work Service. Good knowledge of community resources and experience liaising with community organisations. Demonstrated clinical experience or understanding of grief and loss counselling, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and working with complex family dynamics. Demonstrated understanding of issues associated with working with culturally and linguistically diverse client groups. Well‑developed time‑management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and high‑level computer literacy. Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to quality improvement and evidence‑based practice, and to ongoing clinical and professional learning. Selection criteria Demonstrated understanding of issues associated with ageing, age‑related illnesses, rehabilitation, accommodation placements, guardianship, and end‑of‑life care.
