Within CASG, Joint Systems Division (JSD) is responsible for acquiring, integrating and sustaining command and control systems, communications systems, deployable network systems, and electromagnetic warfare systems. The Director Business Management is responsible for providing high quality support and advice to the Assistant Secretary on all strategic issues coming through the Branch and maintaining situational awareness of issues and tasking applicable to the Division. The Director Business Management leads a small diverse team providing administrative support to the Assistant Secretary and the wider executive team of the Branch. The position requires an ability to thrive in a demanding and high‑pressure environment and to manage a range of priorities to deliver successful outcomes. You will assist in the management of sensitive organisational, policy and administrative issues, including parliamentary and media‑related matters, which will require you to exercise a high degree of discretion and professionalism. You will engage and work closely with a large and diverse range of stakeholders at all levels. About our Team Joint Systems Division (JSD) within CASG acquires and provides through‑life support to a range of command and control systems, communication systems, tactical interoperability systems, and electromagnetic warfare systems. The Division is functionally arranged in three separate but interlinked Branches with a geographic presence in all of the Australian mainland states and territories and a small headquarters element in Canberra. JSD's prime and overriding focus is to provide the best possible support to the ADF employing the materiel provided in protecting Australia’s interests. Our Ideal Candidate The successful application will have the competencies required of a Director Business Management to effectively and efficiently deliver outcomes for the organisation. They will be a highly effective communicator, who is collaborative, agile and demonstrates strong leadership capabilities to drive and deliver outcomes. They will need to have demonstrated high‑level stakeholder engagement, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, high‑level written and oral communication and sound professional judgement. They will be self‑motivated and self‑initiating, with demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, research policy and governance requirements and ensure translation into practical, efficient and aligned business processes and practices. A considerable level of experience with stakeholder engagement and the ability to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations in order to achieve the Division's outcomes. Strong leadership skills to drive and deliver organisational outcomes effectively. Highly effective communication abilities, both written and oral, to engage across all levels. Strategic thinking and initiative, demonstrated through self‑motivation and proactive action. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, supporting sound decision‑making and problem solving. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and exercise discretion. Adaptability, resilience and flexibility, especially in the face of changing demands and shifting priorities. Policy and governance expertise, with the ability to translate requirements into practical business outcomes. Eligibility Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 2”.
