Associate Director, Aboriginal Health Workers and Practitioners

About this role As the Associate Director, you will provide statewide leadership, professional governance, and strategic advice to elevate the role and recognition of Aboriginal Health Workers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners within the NSW Health system. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including peak bodies and community-controlled organisations, to ensure culturally and clinically safe practice and sustainable workforce development. This role is based at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards, with an expectation of attending the office a minimum of three days per week as part of NSW Health’s hybrid working model. What you'll be doing Lead the development of governance frameworks and models of care for Aboriginal Health Workers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners. Provide expert advice on education, training, scope of practice, and workforce sustainability. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external agencies, including professional bodies such as NAATSIHWP and Ahpra. Support cultural supervision and governance mechanisms across NSW Health. Contribute to strategic workforce planning and multidisciplinary initiatives. Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $149,739 - $173,174 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week. This is a full time permanent role. About you We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: Have extensive experience as an Aboriginal Health Worker or are currently registered as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with Ahpra. Highly skilled individual with relevant qualifications and/or experience in areas such as policy, health management, or service management. Demonstrate strategic understanding of Aboriginal health service models, governance, and professional regulation. Possess high-level communication, leadership, and project management skills. Have the ability to influence diverse stakeholders and drive innovation in workforce integration.
