Research Assistant – Guunu‑maana (Heal) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Programme Our mission is to improve the health of millions of people worldwide. Overview Guunu‑maana (Heal) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program at The George Institute that focuses on ethical research and advocacy to transform the health and wellbeing of First Nations peoples and communities. The program is led by Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, and aims to generate evidence that privileges Indigenous knowledges to empower communities and people. This is an identified position for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. Key information Full-Time Opportunity Location: Health Translation Hub, Randwick, NSW 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract Hybrid working (2 days per week in the office) Pro‑Rata Salary Range: $85,600 – $98,400 Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities) 12% Superannuation and salary packaging value up to $15,900 Wearing an NSW driver’s licence is required Key Responsibilities and Duties Assist with report writing Assist in the preparation of Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and Governance submissions Produce and maintain project data effectively Assist with data analysis and prepare data for publications and reporting Regularly update study tracking tools and systems Manage communication with internal and external study staff and key stakeholders Adhere to study protocols and participate in protocol training sessions as required Adhere to safety policies and study SOPs, as outlined by The George Institute Adhere to the workplace policies and procedures of individual hospital study sites, as required Attend study team meetings and appropriately represent The George Institute and the study at all times while located at clinical sites Other tasks as directed by the senior team Skills, Knowledge and Experience (Our Successful Candidate) Knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture and community protocols Willingness to complete a PhD or Master’s degree in the future Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to take initiative and follow up independently Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Internet Capacity to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities Ability to work well within a research team and strong interpersonal skills Strong focus on quality of work Hold an NSW driver’s licence Closing Date 15 December 2025.
