Octagon is a global creative agency specializing in sport and entertainment partnerships, with more than 800 team members worldwide. The company partners with brands to create big ideas that fans love, fostering creativity, authenticity, and long‑term impact. About the Role We are looking for a Managing Director to lead the Australia business for the next decade of sport. The Managing Director will serve as the face of Octagon Australia, raising brand awareness, driving new business, and influencing critical client relationships. This senior role reports to the Managing Director APAC and will oversee a team of 16 staff, including 3 direct reports. Responsibilities Business Vision & Strategy: Lead development of the business plan and set the vision and priorities for the AU business in line with global and regional plans; demonstrate ownership and proactive leadership for growth initiatives. New Business & Go‑to‑Market: Own and implement a new business strategy that builds a strong pipeline; foster industry relationships and unearth new opportunities; act as figurehead articulating Octagon Australia's brand story. Client & Brand Strategy: Lead clients strategically, collaborate with the regional ECD to drive brand strategy, and develop innovative work; establish trusting relationships with clients to achieve better outcomes. Business Operations & Management: Manage local budget and P&L, drive profitability and efficiencies, ensure financial and operational compliance; collaborate with creative, compliance, finance, and people & culture functions. Team & Talent Management: Build a culture that is flexible, diverse, and inclusive; support senior leadership career development; identify training needs. Regional & Global Representation: Represent Australian business interests on the regional management team; contribute to regional planning; assume additional regional/global responsibilities as needed. Qualifications • Proven track record in new business development and converting opportunities through RFP processes or brand network. • Deep understanding of creative agency operations and specialties; experience delivering brilliant creative work in sport and entertainment. • Strong network across the Australian marketing and communications ecosystem, including brands, agencies, and publications. • Experience in building and evolving brand and business strategies, leading teams, and inspiring both clients and creatives. • Excellent communicator capable of articulating ideas to all levels; operational understanding of the Australian business environment and ability to work within local legislature and global policies. • Passion for sports and entertainment partnerships with relationships to rights holders, federations, or clubs a plus.
