About our role
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Food Technologist – Value Engineering, to join our dynamic Food Innovation team, based at our Head Office in Mentone. Reporting into the Product Value Improvement Manager, this role will support identification and initial scoping of value improvement initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders, aimed at enhancing margins and sales performance for the business via cost or product improvements.
What you will do
Ideation and Funnel development
Innovate & Analyze: Leverage data to identify and develop value-improving opportunities for product design and inputs.
Facilitate Workshops: Lead and engage in dynamic ideation sessions with internal teams and external partners.
Assess & Develop: Evaluate ideas through consumer insights, benchmarking, and new processes, and create sample concepts.
Drive Projects: Prepare briefs and updates to keep projects on track through our process
Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate & Resolve: Provide project updates and manage risks, feedback, financial impacts, and challenges with sponsors and stakeholders.
Align & Support: Understand and align with internal stakeholder needs to drive customer and consumer satisfaction.
Project Leadership
Lead & Support: Oversee projects from scoping to execution phase and assist in building financial models with the finance team.
Develop Proposals: Collaborate on business cases and proposals for stakeholder review.
Manage & Record: Support project management, technical aspects, and maintain accurate technical and quality records.
About you
Tertiary qualified in Food Technology or related fields, with relevant experience in Food / FMCG industries.
Interest or background in product value engineering, continuous improvement, or similar areas.
Basic skills in data analysis and modeling are a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of project management basics and quality systems, with the ability to work with team members to improve value.
Ownership for contributing sound technical knowledge to scoping of ideas from concept to hand-over, including data analysis and benchmarking.
Open to adapting to changes and learning on the job, with a focus on continuous improvement and learning.
Good at building relationships with stakeholders and communicating ideas clearly to support team goals.
Comfortable presenting innovative ideas and opportunities in various settings.
Ability to handle project ambiguity and comfortable defending ideas.
Able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Experienced or willing to lead and facilitate team workshops.
