Are you an experienced business services senior accountant or manager looking for more flexibility and autonomy?
Mackenzie + Partners Advisory is a boutique firm that has grown quickly in the last few years. We started as a pure outsourced CFO and advisory firm, and in response to significant demand, we now offer our clients a full suite of services across accounting and tax compliance/advisory, as well as our core outsourced CFO services. The firm's principal is Big-4 trained, with many years of experience as a CFO in large and complex businesses. Our clients are successful private business owners looking to grow, and they look to us for much more than just getting their tax returns done.
You'll be integral to the growth of our accounting and tax practice. You'll get the opportunity to shape the way we do things rather than being bogged down in old processes and ways of doing things, and clunky old software. We're investing in our business to make sure we're a great place to work, and so we can deliver our clients a premium service.
The role is part-time, around 20-30 hours/week, but with flexibility in total hours for the right candidate. We are 100% remote; however, ideally, you are based in Brisbane so we can meet as a team in person from time to time and for client meetings.
You might be looking to return to work after a break, or perhaps sick of the grind in a big firm. If you’ve got great experience but would prefer to be on the tools getting your hands dirty rather than managing people, this could be a perfect fit.
We could be a good match if you:
- Have 4-5+ years of Australian business services experience, including time at least at the senior accountant level
- Can manage accounting and tax compliance jobs from start to finish
- Can prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies, and ideally SMSFs
- Are a qualified CA or CPA or working towards this (but not critical)
- Can manage your own time to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Have strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and Xero, Practice Manager, and other accounting software (most of our clients use Xero)
- Many of our clients are in the property and construction industry, so relevant experience would be a bonus
Here’s what the role entails:
- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns to review stage, including the preparation of detailed working papers for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts, and self-managed superannuation funds
- Management accounting and strategic planning activities such as budgeting, forecasting, tax planning, and business structuring
- Prepare Business Activity Statements and state-based tax returns such as payroll tax
- Researching and consulting on a range of tax issues and drafting tax advice
- Liaising with the ATO, OSR, clients, and other professionals to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
- Basically anything else our clients need help with
