We have a 15-month fixed term opportunity available for a Senior Town Planner, Property Portfolio in our Leederville office. In this role, you will apply your skills to provide expert advice to internal and external clients on property and town planning matters, whilst project managing freehold and reserve land transactions in accordance with the Corporation's requirements.

This dynamic role requires you to work with other qualified land professionals and resolve a broad range of property related matters. You will be supporting junior team members, and report to the Manager of Property Portfolio.

Key Skills & experience:

There are a few things that we'll look for on your CV;

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of the principles and practice of urban and regional town planning. A tertiary qualification in town planning or a related field is desirable.
  • Has a sound knowledge of Western Australian crown land management processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the land subdivision and development approvals processes.
  • Has the ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
  • Possesses well developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in dealing with European Heritage matters is desirable.
  • Demonstrates well developed negotiation, decision-making and time management skills.
  • Has well developed conceptual, analytical and research skills, with the ability to provide innovative solutions to problems.

Duties & key responsibilities:

  • Initiate and manage projects pertaining to the management of Water Corporation landholdings.
  • Coordinate internal staff and external consultants to effectively deliver projects within allocated time, quality and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure work complies with established Water Corporation Policy and Procedures and meets all regulatory standards.
  • Prepare Ministerial responses and Executive briefing notes when required, within specified timeframes.
  • Manage property transactions and negotiations for the disposal of both freehold and crown land managed by the Water Corporation, and ensure the best outcome for the Corporation.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the protection of the Corporations property portfolio and ensure it remains fit for purpose.
  • Provide advice to internal Project Managers on development approval requirements, and help facilitate those approvals where required.
  • Prepare verbal and written briefings for the Head of the Business Unit, and Manager, Property Portfolio to obtain appropriate approvals to transact Water Corporation land.
