About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
The NDIS Commission works with people with disability, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), governments and the sector who together deliver the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Security and Workplace Services
Security and Workplace Services is responsible for enhancing the Commission's business, security and resilience capability through strategically and operationally managing the national fleet, property and accommodation portfolio. Our protective security and resilience management programs ensure our people, properties and assets remain safe, accessible, secure and fit for purpose across the Commission's footprint.
Key duties
Under broad direction, the Assistant Director, Protective Security reports to the Director, Security and Workplace Services and will undertake the following key duties:
- Lead and manage a small operational team delivering protective security services, providing direction, mentoring and professional development to enhance team capability and performance.
- Act as an advisor to the Director and Chief Security Officer on security risk management for the Commission conducting site security risk assessments, site audits, security maturity reporting and other risk management activities.
- Oversee personnel and physical security programs, including pre-employment screening, ongoing suitability assessments, vetting processes, access control, visitor management, security guard services and electronic security systems (CCTV, alarms, duress systems) ensuring compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
Capability requirements
The occupant of the position:
- Has a positive and contemporary attitude to people with disability.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of the PSPF and related standards, guidelines and Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) technical notes.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing protective security management strategies, policies, plans and programs to uplift maturity in a federal or state government environment.
- Experience overseeing personnel security vetting, pre-engagement checking processes and familiarity of security risks in this domain.
