We're on the lookout for a passionate Director of Engineering to join our team at Mandarin Oriental, Vienna, which is scheduled to open its doors in the Summer of 2024.

Mandarin Oriental, Vienna, housed in a historic building, will feature 151 guestrooms and suites surrounding a central courtyard, inclusive of a restaurant, bar, and outdoor garden. Additionally, the property will boast a luxurious Spa at Mandarin Oriental with treatment rooms, a swimming pool, and a fully-equipped fitness center. Various adaptable banqueting and meeting spaces will be available for events and social functions.

The 17 Residences at Mandarin Oriental, situated on the top two floors, will grant exclusive access to the roof, with some apartments offering outdoor terraces and breathtaking city views. These residences will offer unparalleled luxury, complete with Mandarin Oriental's renowned service and direct access to the hotel's amenities.

As the Director of Engineering, your role will involve overseeing all engineering activities to ensure a well-maintained property that meets the needs of our guests and team members. You will be responsible for managing the property's operational and maintenance expenses and utility consumption.

During the pre-opening phase, your responsibilities will include leading the Technical Services division, recruiting the Engineering team, and ensuring compliance with MO standards. You will report directly to the General Manager.

Key responsibilities of the Director of Engineering:

  • Maintain the proper condition of buildings, equipment, and all areas of the property.
  • Implement safety procedures in compliance with standards.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and codes.
  • Oversee the selection of engineering services.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs.
  • Manage the CapEX plan and budget.
  • Support strategic business planning.
  • Coordinate community involvement initiatives.
  • Participate in project management and oversee general projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years in engineering management in luxury hospitality.
  • Pre-opening experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems and energy management.
  • Proficient in office automation applications.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English and German.
