Department of Theatre, Film and Media Studies

The Department of Theatre, Film and Media Studies is the only institution in Austria which integrates and comprises all three fields in research and teaching.

At the Department for Theatre, Film and Media Studies, Professorship for Film Theory, Univ.
Prof. dr Lisa Gotto has a vacancy for an University Assistant (Prae Doc).


The employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 4 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.


Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: -48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Participation in research, teaching and administration:

  • Participation in research projects / research studies
  • Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
  • Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
  • Writing a film studies dissertation as well as lecturing and publications
  • Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
  • Involvement in the institute administration

Profile:

  • Completed diploma or master's degree in film studies or theatre, film and media studies or media studies with a focus on film studies
  • Special skills in the field of film studies (methods of film theory, analysis and history, knowledge of aesthetic theory), proven by dissertations or other forms of publications
  • IT user skills
  • High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to work in a team
Desirable qualifications are

  • Teaching experience / experience of working with elearning
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Experience in image editing requested
