The Department of Romance Studies is part of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies.

It offers Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degree programs in five Romance languages and teacher-training courses for secondary schools in three languages (French, Italian and Spanish).

The Department of Romance Studies is a large department with more than 100 staff members and around 3000 students.

Duration of employment: 3 year/s

Extent of Employment: 20 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: -48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Active participation in research in the department of Romance Linguistics and Communication Studies (Professorship Elissa Pustka) as well as in teaching and administration at the Institute for Romance Studies:

Main focus of work:

Phonology, (staged) orality, language contact, variation and change (especially creolistics, foreign language acquisition, mass media), empirical methods (field research, corpus linguistics, perception experiments, statistics etc.).


Profile:

  • Doctoral degree/PhD degree in French Linguistics;
  • Language skills: excellent language skills in French;
  • Professional competences: knowledge of linguistic theories; experience with empirical methods (e.g. Praat, R);
  • Didactic competence;
  • High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;
  • IT user skills;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Teaching experience / experience of working with elearning
  • Publications in relevant media (peerreviewed)
  • International lecture activity
  • Experiences abroad
Desirable are

  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Experience of supervising students
