Piping and Layout Lead

Job Summary:
NRL are currently partnered with a global engineering consultancy who are providing design and project management support to a leading European Energy Operator. Specifically, the portfolio of projects is focused on energy transition (hydrogen, biofuels etc.) for the new-build full reoil project acting on behalf of the client in a PMC capacity across Germany and Austria.
These roles are available on a contract (freelance) or permanent basis dependent on the candidate preference and the positions will offer hybrid working
The Piping & Layout Lead will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of piping systems for renewable energy projects. This role requires a deep understanding of piping design principles, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and layout of intricate piping systems to ensuring optimal efficiency and safety.
- Coordinate with various engineering disciplines such as process, civil, mechanical, and electrical to ensure seamless integration of the piping design with other project components.
- Develop, implement, and maintain piping specifications and standards that align with our client best practices, regulatory requirements, and the specific needs of their projects.
- Perform comprehensive stress analysis on piping systems using software tools, ensuring the structural integrity and longevity.
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, plans, and specifications that accurately represent the design intent and facilitate smooth construction and installation processes.
- Provide technical support during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of projects, troubleshooting issues and ensuring adherence to design specifications.
- Manage and mentor engineers and designers on the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Actively participate in design reviews, safety reviews, and project meetings, providing valuable insights and feedback.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on piping design and layout.
- Extensive experience in piping design and layout for industrial projects, with a preference for those in the renewable energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.
- Proficiency in using advanced CAD software for piping design.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage projects and lead teams effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
