About this part of our organisation:
Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Additionally, we have operations across Asia, both North and South American continents and Europe. Brisbane is home to our corporate office which is where this role is based.
About your new position:
Your primary purpose will be, in partnership with multiple business units and across the entire business, promote the identification, agreement and implementation of initiatives (projects) that deliver quantifiable improvements in their operating margin across the value chain. The initiative owners are from a diverse cohort across the disciplines of our business and often not from specialist project management backgrounds. You will bring your project management & coaching skills along with industry experience to the fore to amplify delivery and outcomes. We believe that lifting our culture and understanding as to how we deliver improvements in our business will be fundamental to our future.
To deliver on that purpose some of your responsibilities will be:
- Identification, quantification and agreement of initiatives that when implemented will deliver agreed improvements in a Business Unit's margin
- Assisting initiative owners to:
- break the work down into achievable chunks and formulate an agreed work break down structure
- develop baseline project schedules and resourcing plans
- assist in identify project risks, issues and actions
- Working with Business Units to monitor and coordinate the implementation of initiatives to ensure that improvements in their operating margin are realised on schedule and budget.
- Seeking out opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement
- Leading and facilitating programs to identify, action and sustain improvements
- Establishing a culture of accountability and performance to support strategic priorities and associated KPIs
- Project managing where and when required
- As with all our roles, leading by example with personal safety performance, safety management practices and establishing a high-performance safety culture reflecting our systems, standards, policies and procedures
To be effective in this role you will have to be proficient at building trust, communications management, and coaching and most of all show results.
As this is a role liaising with our business leaders across multiple business units and across multiple facets, we anticipate you will have extensive experience and expertise in:
- multiple functions of the mining and minerals processing value chain and operations
- the identification, quantification and implementation of improvement initiatives that deliver quantifiable benefits
- partnering and influencing people to deliver business outcomes
- economic and financial management capabilities to capture the value
- partnering with external and internal stakeholders to successful implement improvement initiatives
- risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for mining & minerals processing
