Using best practice standards, you will handle claims from initial assessment to settlement, utilising mediation, legal representation, and court processes to determine liability, quantum, and resolution strategies.

 In this role, you:
Lead, manage, and motivate a team of claims officers to ensure efficient operations, delivering outcomes and achieving performance standards by overseeing resourcing, professional development, staff induction, training, development, and performance processes. Manage the Claims Team to provide accurate, complex technical and strategic advice to QGIF management and external stakeholders on claim-related issues, develop and approve settlement strategies within delegation, achieve and monitor key performance indicators, ensure project completion, manage external service providers such as Crown Law and external Legal Panel, and oversee claim recoveries for QGIF. Develop and implement policies, strategies, processes, and systems for continuous
improvement in claims management, maintaining up-to-date reference manuals and tools. Prepare and deliver technical and operational reports, presentations, and submissions to QGIF management and stakeholders, and handle general correspondence related to claims management. Ensure effective claims audit processes, achieving outcomes by conducting audits,
managing audit processes, and implementing recommendations. Participate in the Claims Management Team to develop, implement, and monitor initiatives for departmental and operational goals. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with QGIF's Statement of Commitment and risk mitigation. Identify system enhancements and assist with user-testing. Facilitate responses to Right to Information (RTI) applications per the Right to Information Act 2009.

 Experience you bring:
• Experience in managing claims under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002, abuse claims, or personal injuries claims, utilising best practice claims standards.
• A sound understanding of liability and causation principles and knowledge of applicable case law.
• The ability to assess the quantum of a personal injury claims including the application of the Civil Liability Act 2003 & Regulation and common law principles.
• Experience in managing providers of legal services, loss assessing, investigations to ensure value for money outcomes.
• Experience in managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications in the legal and insurance industry are highly regarded.
