Are you a dynamic leader ready to contribute a range of technical and project management expertise to South Australia's most significant infrastructure project?

We're seeking a Program Manager to join our Project Planning and Interfaces Team. This role offers a unique opportunity to get involved in a range of activities, driving successful delivery from planning to execution.

At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport we connect South Australians to keep our State moving. We want every South Australian to easily access the services they want, the transport they rely on and the infrastructure they need.

For us, it's personal. We feel it because we live it. We know the projects and services we work on today must deliver for South Australia's future.

We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.

The Opportunity
The North-South Corridor Program Delivery Office develops the plans and oversees the delivery of infrastructure needed to connect the North-South Corridor and enhance the economic opportunity and liveability for the communities it serves.

The River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project is the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, and will complete 78km of non-stop, traffic light-free motorway between Gawler and Old Noarlunga. This is a multibillion dollar project that will deliver a wide range of social, economic, environmental and safety benefits, not only for Adelaide, but for all of South Australia.

As the Program Manager, you'll oversee the end-to-end management of priority transport projects, providing technical expertise and ensuring high-quality standards. You'll engage with stakeholders across government, professional, and industry bodies to negotiate project outcomes and manage complex infrastructure and non-infrastructure works. Your responsibilities will also include developing project plans, managing risks, and preparing detailed project documentation.

About You
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative professional with extensive experience in leading and managing a diverse team of senior professionals.

You bring extensive experience in managing major construction infrastructure projects, particularly civil works. You have strong leadership skills across a technical and professional team, and you're adept at strategic thinking and risk management. You thrive in dynamic environments, capable of motivating teams and driving change to meet objectives.

The successful candidate will show a deep understanding of project management principles, with a proven ability to project and program outcomes including schedules, costs and risks. You'll demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills, analytical expertise, and the ability to deliver innovative solutions. Exceptional communication skills are a must, enabling you to navigate complex negotiations and foster cooperation.

Joining our team offers an exciting opportunity to make significant contributions as we deliver one of South Australia's most important transport corridors. You'll work alongside talented professionals, leveraging your expertise to drive innovation, creativity, and growth in a collaborative team where your contributions are recognised and valued.

Qualifications/Experience/Requirements
A recognised degree or postgraduate qualification providing eligibility for professional accreditation in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline or the discipline of planning or transport planning is required.

The following are technical capabilities of the role:

  • Significant relevant experience managing and providing professional technical advice for major construction infrastructure projects or similar is desirable.
  • Experience in the management of civil works is essential.

A current driver's licence is essential.

Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Application Instructions
Applications can be submitted online by clicking the 'Apply' button.

Applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae and a cover letter of no more than two pages addressing the selection criteria in the role statement.
