About Gracemount Mansion Development Trust

Gracemount Mansion Development Trust (GMDT) was established in 2022 to manage the community asset transfer ofGracemount Mansion House and grounds from the City of Edinburgh Council to conserve and renovate the category Blisted Mansion, re-establishing the site as a thriving community hub. GMDT is a charity registered with OSCR(SCO052155).

Gracemount Mansion House sits within the heart of Gracemount community and has the potential to re-establish amuch-needed community-based centre rooted in a historic building.

The Gracemount project is at an early stage and we are looking for a project manager who will play a significant rolein bringing this project to life, coordinating and managing the development work to reopen part of the Mansionand grounds on a meanwhile basis, until future funding can be raised to undertake the much needed developmentwork to reopen all the building and grounds.

The successful candidate, will be primarily responsible for coordinating the project team, managing the delivery ofthe contractors in line with timescales and budget, engaging with key stakeholders and the local community,project progress and outcomes reporting, contributing to essential fundraising needs and generally supportingthe work of Gracemount Mansion Development Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, flexible and self-motivated person to work together with GracemountMansion Development Trust and the appointed professional team to drive forward the next phase of our excitingproject. The project manager will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of the projectand should have the necessary administrative and organisational skills to enable this to happen.

Project delivery will be carried out in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Trust and in compliance withthe criteria of the funding.

The Role:

We are seeking a visionary leader to join Montrose Community Trust as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Thispivotal role involves developing strategic direction, securing diverse funding streams, and fostering keypartnerships to drive MCT forward.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for community development and the skills necessary to lead MCT into asuccessful future. The CEO will be instrumental in shaping the organisation's strategic vision and ensuringits sustainability.

  • Develop and implement MCT’s strategic plan in alignment with the charity’s mission and vision.
  • Drivefundraising efforts and secure funding from diverse sources to support MCT’s programmes.

The Udny Community Trust Co (UCTC) have transformed “The Medan Centre” in Pitmedden, Aberdeenshire into a vibrantcommunity hub which contains the UCTC office, Cafe48 and multi-purpose rooms. We now have the opportunity toemploy an enthusiastic and self-motivated manager to help consolidate the gains we have made regarding communityinvolvement and to fully utilise the Medan Centre.

Reporting directly to the Board, this is a stand-alone post where you will play a lead role in looking after the UCTCand the Medan Centre as well as supporting other groups to help deliver a wide variety of projects. This willrequire you to manage your workload and work effectively to deadlines.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working on community projects, excellent communication and peopleskills including social media and the ability to organise and promote events and activities that deliver ouraims and aspirations. You will have an inclusive approach which will empower people to play an active part. Youwill also demonstrate financial awareness along with the ability to run a multi-functional building. This rolealso promotes Health walks and other outdoor activities.

You will succeed by working with and drawing on the experience and skills of the local community and relevantagencies to promote partnership working and to develop local groups so that they are self-sustaining.

The post is offered, primarily, on a full-time permanent basis, but we may consider two part time posts, withflexible hours to suit both the needs of the Trust and the employee(s). Occasional evening work and weekend workwill be required, and access to your own transport would be desirable.

The Role:

The main role of the Community Link Worker is to provide a person-centred service that is responsive to the needs andinterests of a GP practice and its patients. This Community Link Worker position is based in the TollcrossHealth Centre which encompasses the GP practices of Polwarth, Leven and Gilmore.

The Community Link Worker will support patients referred by the Primary Care teams to:

  • Identify issues affecting their ability to live well
  • Identify personal outcomes andpriorities
  • Provide a person centred approach to support patients to overcome barriers to achievingpersonal goals
  • Link people to local and national services and agencies.

The Community Link Worker will support the GP practice teams to have increased knowledge and understanding of localand national resources available to their patients. They will also build relationships and processes between theGP practice and community resources, statutory organisations, other health services and voluntaryorganisations.

The post-holder must have experience of working with people who are facing complex social and emotionalcircumstances. They will also have excellent and effective interpersonal skills, being able to demonstrate anability to work with people on a 1:1 basis as well as experience in networking and relationship building withother professionals and organisations.

About the Community Link Worker Programme:

The Community Links Worker programme, funded by EVOC and Edinburgh Health & Social Care Partnership, is deliveredin partnership with GP Practices and the 3rd sector to support people to live well through strengtheningconnections between community resources and primary care.

This Community Link Worker post holder will be employed by Space @ The Broomhouse Hub and will be supervised andsupported by Space Head of Community & Connections, and the Community Link Worker Network Area Lead forSouth Edinburgh, who will work together to ensure that the post holder is on track to meet outcomes prescribedby the Scottish Government and Edinburgh Integrated Joint Board.

This post will be based predominantly at Tollcross Health Centre with some possible home working and occasionalvisits to the Broomhouse Hub.

The Community Fridge project was established in early 2020 to help to address food insecurity whilst addressing theissue of food waste through businesses donating food destined for landfill on a relatively small-scale basis, Wethen secured a new dedicated facility which has more than tripled our initial fridge & freezer equipment andshelving. Our fridge and larder continues to be a lifeline to so many as evidenced by the continuing increase inregistrations and footfall. We currently have 990 members of our community fridge with on average 150 – 200visits per week.

Brunch Club - delivered from our Community Fridge/Larder we offer a meal delivery service to those who may havelimited capability to cook healthy nutritious meals for themselves.

The Community Fridge Food waste is a big issue. The average household throws away £470 worth of food every year whileothers live in food poverty. Most food waste is avoidable and could have been eaten had it been bettermanaged.

The Community Fridge provides access for everyone to nutritious, surplus food at low costs. It helps people savemoney and reduce waste.

Job Role

This role will co-ordinate the operation of the Community Fridge to successfully cut food waste, build stronger bondswithin the community and provide people with access to nutritious food.
