The Queensland Museum's First Nations team is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Project Officer, Repatriation to support our First Nations repatriation initiatives.

Join a dedicated team committed to facilitating the repatriation of cultural artifacts and Ancestral Remains to and from First Nations communities around the world.

You will foster community relationships and support repatriation activities between the Museum and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, stakeholders, and partners, and ensure that our projects and initiatives align with the needs and priorities of First Nations peoples.

It is a genuine occupational requirement for this position to be fi lled by an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander person, as permitted byandarguable under, Sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

The Queensland Museum is the custodian of the state's First Nations Ancestral Remains, Secret Sacred objects, and cultural materials, which are cared for by the Museum at the request of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The Queensland Museum has been actively repatriating Ancestral Remains and cultural material to First Nations communities across Australia since the 1990s. We are looking to expand our repatriation team to meet increasing demands.

The Queensland Museum acknowledges the First Peoples - the Traditional Custodians of the lands, waters and sky where we live and work. We honour their unbroken connection to Country, culture, and community. We pay respect to Elders past, present and future. We recognise our shared history and commit to embedding First Nations voices in Queensland's continuing story.

To perform this role it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991
