The Aurenne Group is a private company who acquired the historic Mt Ida - Bottle Creek gold field, 80 km west of Menzies in 2019.

About the role
The Pit Technician role is to fulfill a team based technical role with expectations of the applicant to hold a diverse set of skills, have a solid understanding of the critical elements required and to assist across all areas with the geology department.
This is a critical role that allows for flexibility and dynamic planning within the geology department to allow for coverage of other positions when required. This role is based on an 8:6 | 7:7 rotating dayshift/nightshift roster to provide continuous coverage when mining.
Your duties will include:
- Supervision of ore mark out and ore extraction to minimise dilution and maximise recovery.
- Ore spotting: documenting tonnage as it is excavated - having visual on every bucket to know what is contained in the ore.
- Ensure sampling of grade control and resource definition drillholes and all sampling and associated data management is conducted to the required standard.
- Monitor QA/QC of sampling and assaying.
- Carry out grade and bulk density assumptions with regular check samples.
- Assist mine geologists with mapping within the pit.
- Maintain high levels of communication between geological personnel, engineers, surveyors and mining personnel on site.
- Fill in for Mine Open Pit Geologist as required.
- It is anticipated that the Pit Technician will be exposed to all areas of mine development. When fully competent in their role as described it is encouraged that they pursue further training on heavy equipment.
About you:
You will have a minimum of 2 years recent experience as an open cut, gold mine pit tech. You are organised with a keen eye for detail and enjoy working outdoors. You will be competent with Office Suite, Google Earth imagery and geological databases and have a “can do” work attitude.
Also required:
- Current “C” Class WA Manual Drivers Licence (Essential)
- Recent satisfactory NPC clearance (Essential)
- Full Australian working rights: valid work visa, permanent residency or Australian citizenship (Essential)
- Ability to pass a medical and drug and alcohol screen.
