Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (WHR) is currently seeking an experienced Director, Global Sales (based in Sydney) to maximize the exposure of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (WHR) franchised and managed hotels of all brands within the Australia and New Zealand territories. The director will represent the hotels to the Corporate, TMC, Consortia, regional Hotel Booking Agents and meeting planners throughout the assigned territories. This position requires a consultative sales approach, acting in partnership with both corporate clients and their travel intermediaries to form a strong 'tripartite' relationship, thereby developing revenue opportunities and market share for our hotels, franchise partners, and WHR.

The Position

Reporting to the Regional Director, Global Sales for South East Asia & Pacific Rim, this role involves driving RFP solicitations from corporate clients into WHR properties, either directly or through nominated business travel intermediaries.

  • Regional corporate account development: through new business development and effective account management processes, develop robust relationships with regional corporate clients/prospects to drive RFP solicitations, demand, market share, and revenues into WHR’s franchised/managed properties within the assigned region.
  • Business travel account development: develop account strategies that align with overall regional goals, and increase market share; develop strategic partnerships with Corporate, Meeting Planners, Travel Management Companies, Consortia & Hotel Booking Agents; develop and manage relationships with assigned accounts; conduct market intelligence to identify new business opportunities; establish individual account sales plan to achieve all key business objectives
  • Outbound Sales Development: identify target prospects, conduct outbound customer calls to promote and sell products and service; drive business growth and expansion through lead generation.
  • Analyze the competitive marketplace and market dynamics affecting the assigned account portfolio. Translate findings into strategic sales activities to ensure Wyndham maintains a competitive advantage with these accounts. Provide regular reports on significant market dynamics to functional teams to support performance maintenance or enhancement.
  • Drive sales opportunities with Wyndham hotels to support the account growth strategy. Take the lead in executing global account coordination, activating a holistic approach to account opportunity management. Focus on securing deals that provide the highest short- and long-term value to Wyndham.
  • Meeting and Conference Sales: delve into the comprehensive hotel requirements of each client, collaborating with them to oversee their Meetings, Incentive, Conference & Events (MICE) business needs via GSO sales leads. Harness the MICE resources available in APAC to maximize performance and conversion ratios across all promotions.
  • Work efficiently through the appropriate use of systems & business tools (such as Sales Force Lightening, Cvent Transient, Birst, GSO Sales Lead etc.) and maintain the information
  • Industry participation: represent WHR at appropriate industry events such as Conferences & Trade Shows. In addition, become an active member of relevant industry associations & institutions.

We Are Looking For

You should be able to demonstrate the following as well:

  • More than 8 years of relevant experience in hotel sales (property, national sales or global sales)
  • Posses commercial knowledge of hospitality sector in marketplace
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and targets
  • Flexibility to adjust to the changing needs of the business, taking on new ideas, initiatives, brands and responsibilities as they present themselves
  • Ability to work simultaneously on a number of initiatives and priorities often under pressure
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills to work with people at all levels and from all backgrounds and parts of the world
  • Ability to stay objective and fair when dealing with sensitive internal/external customer situations maintaining constructive working relations
  • Self-starter, exhibiting initiative, confidence, professionalism, and good judgment
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accountability, results-orientated and dependable
  • Ability to make business decisions with integrity and honesty
