You have a track record of success, having coordinated activity programs for seniors for at least two years, showcasing your ability to plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and programs. Having demonstrated leadership experience, you excel at fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. You possess exceptional observation and assessment skills, allowing you to determine residents' wellness needs accurately, and you have a proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor teams to achieve their goals. Your skills in recruiting, coordinating, and supervising teams of volunteers highlight your commitment to community engagement. With excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, you establish and maintain professional relationships with team members, residents, and visitors. Your strong organizational skills, time management, and adaptability enable you to efficiently manage conflicting priorities and adapt to changing circumstances. You’re technologically savvy and have a working knowledge of computers and software for communication, internet use, word processing, and specialized software. Your dedication to health and wellness extends to your understanding of fitness programs, and you have a recognized degree or diploma in recreational therapy. A class 4 driver’s license is also in your possession.

About The Role

Your role revolves around program leadership, where you’ll develop comprehensive activity programs catering to the diverse needs of assisted living and independent residents, aligning with the Baptist Housing wellness model. You’ll set annual goals, create and circulate monthly activity calendars, and actively participate in program delivery. Driving the Baptist Housing bus for external activities and maintaining related records will be part of your responsibilities. You will facilitate smooth transitions for new residents, collaborate with care teams, and ensure dynamic and flexible activity plans through continuous observation and assessment. Your role will extend to team leadership, fostering relationships within the community, offering mentorship and support to the activities team, ensuring effective scheduling and workload distribution, and participating in the selection and appraisal of team members. Networking, budget management, professional development, and maintaining a culture of health and safety will also be integral aspects of your role, all while embracing your unique strengths to fulfill assigned duties. You’ll be an ambassador for Baptist Housing by modelling our values in all of your interactions with residents, families, and our team.

We provide long-term care, assisted living, supportive housing, home support and adult day programs in our communities in Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria.
