About the role:

The Student and Academic Services Program Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating various programs and services aimed at enhancing the academic experience and overall well-being of students. This role involves collaborating with academic departments, faculty, and administrative staff to ensure the successful implementation of programs to support student success, and engagement.

UC College is a pathway provider for the University of Canberra, offering bridging courses to both domestic and international students.

The person we seek will bring the following skills and experience to this role:

Project coordination: The ability to independently plan, control, coordinate, and manage activities, showcasing robust organisational and time-management skills.

Promoting Positive Student Experience: Demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive student experience through proactive engagement and support.

Time Management: Exhibit a demonstrated ability to meet consistent deadlines while effectively managing competing priorities to ensure the smooth operation of student administration and engagement programs.

Administrative Proficiency: Demonstrated well-developed administration skills, including problem-solving, analytical skills, and a high level of accuracy in managing student records and related administrative tasks.

Effective Communication Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders from both academic and administrative areas. Your ability to build relationships is crucial in driving positive educational outcomes.

Systems Experience:  experience with student information systems or databases, and/or customer relationship management systems to streamline student administration and engagement processes.

Technological Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, with a particular emphasis on Excel.

Demonstrated analytical skills that contribute to data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement of educational systems and programs.

Attention to Detail: Exhibit excellent attention to detail, including strong proofreading and editing skills to ensure the accuracy and quality of communications and documentation.

Problem Resolution: Display the ability to independently resolve routine problems and issues, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of administrative and educational initiatives

Commitment to Education: Possess a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to education, contributing to the University of Canberra College’s vision of transforming lives through learning.

Understanding of Student Challenges: Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by students participating in alternative pathways to tertiary education, including the complex nature of the international student experience.

Offer leadership and supervision for the College administration team, integrating performance management for effective guidance and oversight.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Degree or professional qualifications (or, in lieu, at least three years’ professional experience) relating to administration in the education, business or welfare sectors
  • Previous experience in higher education sector in an administrative or student engagement role
  • An understanding of key legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to international education
  • Previous experience as a program coordinator or team leader
  •  A minimum of three years of administrative experience in a dynamic environment, preferably within the education sector.
