Providence is actively seeking expressions of interest from ACT based consultants with experience in procurement and contract management to work on various Defence projects in Canberra. Candidates looking for both permanent and contract work are encouraged to apply. These roles will sit between the Level 2 to Level 3 ( DSS / MSP panel equivalent ) or APS6 - EL1 ( APS equivalent ).

Job Description

  • Formulate direction and advice, manage change, and lead and influence both internal and external stakeholders in procurement and contract management.;
  • Establish best practice in procurement or contract management processes, policies and procedures within an organisation.;
  • Support projects through contractual negotiations, risks and issues.
  • Manage complex procurement in a Government environment including requirements definition and tender documentation;
  • Undertake financial analysis and/or develop costing models related to the procurement activity;
  • Achieve project outcomes by using highly developed communication, negotiation, persuasion and interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction with project stakeholders, staff and other contractors at all levels;

The ideal candidate (dependent on skill level) will have:

  • An existing/re-instatable Australian Defence security clearance.
  • Experience working as a Commercial /Contract Manager or Commercial / Contract Officer or Procurement Specialist/ Procurement Officer.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Defence experience, or knowledge of Defence processes (highly desirable)
  • Familiarity with the ASDEFCON suite of tendering and contracting ( highly desirable )
  • Qualifications in procurement and/or contracts management or a related discipline (desirable)
