About the Role

The Junior Secondary Maths/Science Head of Department is a complex role, including a range of responsibilities. The successful applicant will be responsible for upholding a quality-assured curriculum and improved pedagogy within Year 7 Mathematics and Science, managing a team of teachers, supporting with student behaviour, and will oversee the strategic and operational elements of Junior Secondary extra-curricular groups including STEM Squad and the Junior Secondary Leadership Team.

The successful applicant should demonstrate suitable experience in the curriculum areas of Mathematics and Science, and should have experience in leading and enriching STEM skills. A high level of data literacy will also be advantageous in order to lead analysis within the faculty, as well as analysing NAPLAN results to affect positive change within the Junior Secondary years.

This role requires the successful applicant to work both autonomously and as a part of a team. They will have responsibilities aligned to the school's strategic agenda, including coaching and mentoring, quality-assuring curriculum and contributing to a culture that promotes learning. There will be additional responsibilities in relation to supporting Year 6 into 7 transition as well as other operational items such as NAPLAN Online and internal diagnostic testing.
