 Applied Measurement Australia is an established and respected global organisation specialising in importing and the manufacture of high quality sensors and measurement systems. We are now seeking a highly self motivated Technical Salesperson to manage and drive sales within the victoria region and the potential of interstate travel. The role requires a hands on person with engineer like technical knowledge and sales skills to provide advice/support on a range of products. Clients are usually technical staff from retail and non-retail organisations, such as factories, universities, machine builders, engineers and automation companies just to name a few. The emphasis of the work varies depending on the level of technical knowledge needed to sell a particular product or service.

Technical sales people are a key point of contact for clients and provide both pre- and after-sales advice. They liaise regularly with other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range of departments, such as research, development, design, purchasing, production and quality, as well as senior company managers.

Tasks typically involve:

  • searching for new clients who might benefit from company products or services and maximizing client potential in designated regions;
  • developing long-term relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements;
  • persuading clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery;
  • negotiating tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs;
  • calculating client quotations and administering client accounts;
  • providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and after-sales support services;
  • meeting regular sales targets and coordinating sales projects;
  • analyzing costs and sales;
  • preparing reports for head office;
  • making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product meets client needs;
  • supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events;
  • helping in the design of custom-made products;
  • liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;
  • Able to convey customer requirements to Product Management teams
  • providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.
  • Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Provide effective commercial and technical support to all customers and distributors
  • Implement strategies to further develop and increase sales to all accounts and identify new business opportunities and total market potential
  • Compile and continually update customer records with comprehensive details on all customers/distributors
  • Complete promptly customer visit reports, monthly sales reports and any other reports when requested

Qualifications

Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in software sales and knowledge of technology. Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organisation with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFQs, and when submitting reports. Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches. Must be prepared to travel.

  • Junior Sales Position: 1-3+ years relevant experience in vendor sales
  • Senior Sales Position: 3-5+ years relevant experience in vendor sales
  • Experience and familiarity of our products and line of business is a plus
  • Engineering degree and mechanical knowledge are a great advantage including basic electronic knowledge.
