About the roleCity of Parramatta has an exciting 18-month term contract opportunity working in the Environment and Sustainability team as the Special Projects Engineer. This role will be responsible for managing Council’s major flood and drainage studies. This position will predominantly be working on a planned $50 million flooding and drainage upgrade of Hill Road, Wentworth Point. On a daily basis you will be required to:
- Provide professional and specialist technical advice on engineering matters to the organisation and external customers to achieve positive outcomes.
- Provide professional and technical advice and guidance on various planning instruments, guidelines, Flood DCP, Water Management DCP, Strategies / Studies / Policies relating to floodplain, drainage, estuarine, storm water and water quality matters.
- Assist the Supervisor of Catchment Management to manage Council’s flood catchments in accordance with the NSW Flood Risk Management manual.
- Use and manage water management software applications.
We are looking for someone with:
- Recognised degree in Civil Engineering and eligible to be a member of The Institution of Engineers Australia.
- Approximately 10 years Civil and Water engineering experience, including experience in Flood Modelling, Drainage design and Project Management.
- Demonstrated experience in the areas of Civil Engineering Software.
- Demonstrated highly developed written and oral communication skills including complex documents.
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $125,996 to $138,699 plus superannuation. In addition, City of Parramatta also offers excellent employee benefits which include:
