APC Waste Consultants (APC) is a division within WSG and one of Australia’s most reputable and respected waste consultancy businesses.

APC is recognised by the industry, peers and clients as Australia’s best ‘Data Management & Auditing’ Consultancy continuously from 2015 to 2021. We have developed and implemented world best practice waste and recycling programs for communities and their councils nationally.

In 2021 APC was ranked in the top three small waste consultancies in Australia in eight of the eleven categories in the Inside Waste Consultants Review including:

  • First – waste auditing and logistics
  • Second – strategy and procurement
  • Third – technology, modelling, education, environmental compliance

About the role

We are seeking a Business & Sustainability Analyst to join our projects team with experience in waste management advisory, strategy and analysis.

This role key focus is to support APC projects with data management, cleansing, transformation, analysis and reporting. The role will provide essential support to the following stakeholders:

INTERNAL: Delivery of business continual improvement. This will include supporting the role out of a new business work management system, improving audit data capture processes, and review, design and roll-out of continual business improvement.

EXTERNAL: As part of a team, contribute your analytical skills towards client sustainability projects. This may include audit analysis and reporting, material flow analysis, technology and cost modelling.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work across the business to support the data and reporting needs for projects.
  • Work with the Project Director to improve data integrity and streamline data management processes.
  • Entry and verification of field data from waste auditors.
  • Source internal and external datasets required for project delivery.
  • Develop standardised business processes for data collection, preparation and maintenance.
  • Maintain key datasets for APC clients and ongoing projects.
  • Development of data visuals and dashboards.
  • Prepare regular quarterly reports for APC clients.
  • Conduct ad-hoc on-demand analysis for APC, including any technical consultants requiring analytic support on projects.

Background & Experience

  • Experience in a similar role and/or in data collection, extraction, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in the waste or sustainability industries.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Power BI, Power Query and database management.
  • Understanding of ETL framework and ETL tools.
  • Strong mathematical & numeracy skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills - the ability to identify trends, patterns and insights from data.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to build relationships across multiple departments.
  • Action orientated, with strong time management and organisational skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to make a positive difference.
  • Emotional intelligence & relationship building across a broad range of stakeholders, and a strong collaborator mindset.
