Organizational Setting

The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) consists of the Office of the Deputy Director General, four regional Divisions (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean), the Division of Programme Support and Coordination and the Division of the Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT). It provides strategic direction for the IAEA’s technical cooperation programme, and is responsible (in close collaboration with Member States) for the planning, formulation, implementation and monitoring of the programme.

Main Purpose

Under the supervision and guidance of the Programme Coordinator, the Programme Officer (TC) contributes to the planning, coordination, review, analysis, and reporting of Major Programme 6 (MP6) as well as new Agency wide initiatives. The Programme Officer (TC) also undertakes TC-related research and analysis work for documents, reports, policy papers and meetings, as appropriate.

Role

The Programme Officer (TC) is (i) an advisor on the formulation of and reporting on Major Programme 6, (ii) an analyst, reviewing and analysing overall programme performance data for assessment; (iii) a team member, working collaboratively within the Department as well as with the other departments, to enhance synergies, coordination, and outreach; (iv) a substantive contributor, drafting, editing and preparation of various relevant documentation.

Functions / Key Results Expected
- Contribute to programme planning and formulation, monitoring and reporting, and safeguarding programme integrity by ensuring the TC programme is in line with IAEA’s strategic documents and guidance provided by the Policy Making Organs. Assess progress and draft reports on the management of the TC programme under Major Programme 6.
- Monitor resource allocation and utilization of assigned TC-specific projects.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders in particular the TC Regional Divisions for the preparation of reports particularly those contributing to the different UN reports.
- Consolidate, analyse, and synthesize information for annual summary reports on projects funded through the Peaceful Uses Initiative. Ensure compliance and consistency with pledge letters and financial reports.
- Keep abreast, through research and information collection, of the latest trends in technical cooperation, particularly in policy-related developments, and maintains all relevant records for reference.
- Represent the Department of Technical Cooperation providing advice and inputs on its specific requirements to inter-departmental groups related to programme requirements and support.
