The Maier laboratory at CeMM, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, is recruiting a highly motivated Technical Assistant to join an international team of scientists working in the field of tumor immunology / cancer immunotherapy.

Requirements and desired qualifications
- Degree in life sciences (B.Sc., M.Sc., Mag., DI)
- Eager to join a young team and be trained in new techniques and science of tumor immunology
- Qualified laboratory experience in molecular and cellular biology and/or immunology
- Experience with mouse handling and cell culture
- Experience with basic molecular biology (e.g. cloning and PCR)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- High accuracy, reliability and independence, able to work seamlessly in a team
- Excellent communication skills and organizational skills

Tasks and responsibilities
- Management of mouse colonies, genotyping
- Mouse models of lung cancer and other cancers
- Isolation of primary immune cells from different tissues (mouse, human)
- Phenotyping of immune cells using multicolor flow cytometry
- Molecular biology, such as cloning or preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries
- Organization of laboratory space, ordering of laboratory consumables

The Barbara Maier Laboratory

The Lab of Barbara Maier investigates how solid tumors evade the immune system; what local factors in the tumor microenvironment dampen the activity of immune cells; and how immune cells can be reprogrammed to mount an efficient immune response against tumors. We combine cell-culture based high throughput technologies, mechanistic in vivo studies using mouse models, single-cell transcriptomics, and immune-profiling of patient-derived tumor material.
