Corporate Compliance Officer and Data Protection

Under the supervision of the General Counsel, the Corporate Compliance Officer and Data Protection Officer is a senior member of the Legal, Compliance, and IP team and responsible for monitoring, developing, updating and implementing the Company’s global compliance program. This person also takes the role of Data Protection Officer under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for all Valneva entities in the European Union and oversees global compliance with applicable data protection obligations, including in the United Kingdom and United States.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review, assess, update, develop, and create policies and procedures to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct;
- Develop/update and deliver initial and refresher training to Valneva employees on all compliance policies and procedures;
- Foster a compliance mindset across the organization, particularly with respect to data protection;
- Evaluate and support compliance in activities of other departments, particularly those involved in or connected with compliance matters (e.g. Medical Affairs, Risk Management, Finance, Legal, HR etc.);
- Periodically assess the effectiveness of the Company’s compliance program and recommend improvements as needed;
- Investigate suspected or actual compliance issues;
- Propose and coordinate resolution of identified compliance issues;
- Provide regular compliance reports to the General Counsel and, as needed, the Audit, Compliance, and Risk Committee of the Company’s Board of Directors;
- Ensure proper documentation of compliance matters;
- Review compliance, data protection, and privacy provisions in contracts;
- Support the Director of ESG on matters related to compliance, including reporting in public disclosures;
- Act as Chair of the Corporate Compliance Committee and coordinate compliance activities at Valneva sites;
- Act as Data Protection Officer, with the responsibilities set out in GDPR (including, without limitation, maintaining a register of processing activities, developing data protection policies, providing regular training to employees, and reporting security breaches to data protection authorities where required), for all EU Valneva entities;
- Support responses to actual or suspected cybersecurity incidents involving personal data as a member of Critical Incident Response Team; and
- Assist with periodic updates to the Company’s information security and incident response plans and procedures, including vendor assessments.

Education and Experience:

- University degree and relevant experience in law, compliance, or business ethics
- Minimum of seven years of experience in compliance and data protection in a multinational company
- Excellent knowledge of EU, UK, and US sanctions, anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and data protection laws
