**ACADEMY SCIENTIST (F/M/X)**
**_in Lexicography_**

(part-time, 18hrs per week)

The position is situated in the OeAW long term project “Dictionary of Bavarian Dialects in Austria” (‘Wörterbuch der

bairischen Mundarten in Österreich’, WBÖ), which is dedicated to the comprehensive documentation and lexicographic

analysis of the various base and regional dialects of (historical) Austria and South Tyrol. As part of the WBÖ editorial

staff, your main area of responsibility is lexicographic work, in particular writing dictionary articles which are published

in the Lexical Information System Austria (‘Lexikalisches Informationssystem Österreich’, LIÖ). The WBÖ follows a

modern text technological approach in which digital methods and formats (databases, XML/TEI) are of central

importance. Basic technical skills and open-mindedness towards the latest developments in the field of digital

humanities are therefore as much part of the requirements profile as sound knowledge in the field of dialectology and

diachronic linguistics.

**Your tasks**:

- Lexicographic work for the “Dictionary of Bavarian Dialects in Austria” (WBÖ)
- Assistance in the central research areas of the research department “Linguistics” (consisting of postdocs, predocs,

student employees and professors)
- Assistance in project meetings (of different constellations and sizes), conventions, conferences and symposia

**Your profile**:

- Experiences in research project of German linguistics (preferred area: lexicography)
- Research focus in one or more of the following areas (verifiable through project experience, final paper for a degree

etc.): dialectology, lexicography, corpus linguistics
- Open-mindedness towards the newest developments in the field of digital humanities
- Very good knowledge of German, very good knowledge of English
- Teamwork, integration capacity, independence, reliability, ability to work under pressure, flexibility

The annual gross salary is € 27.416,97, according to the collective agreement for employees of the Austrian Academy of

Sciences. The employment will start at the earliest in July/August 2023 and run initially for one year.
