The Department of Romance Studies is part of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies. It offers Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degree programs in five Romance languages and teacher-training courses for secondary schools in three languages (French, Italian and Spanish). The Department of Romance Studies is a large department with more than 100 staff members and around 3000 students.

The announcement is made for three years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of three years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months. There is an option to extend the contract for another year.

**Extent of Employment**: 30 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: -48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Active participation in research in the department of Romance Linguistics and Communication Studies (Professorship Elissa Pustka) as well as in teaching and administration at the Institute for Romance Studies:

- Independent research activities (writing a dissertation)
- Participation in research projects, publications and lectures
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in exams
- Participation in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Participation in research, teaching and institute administration.

Research fields of the working group: phonology, (staged) orality, language contact, variation and change (especially Creole languages, foreign language learning, mass media), empirical methods (field research, corpus linguistics, perception experiments, statistics, etc.)

**Profile**:

- MA in the study field of French linguistics
- Excellent command of French
- Knowledge of linguistic theories and experience with empirical methods
- Didactic skills
- High command of written and oral language;
- Very good command of English;
- Computer literacy;
- Ability to work in teams;
- Letter of intent
- Scientific CV / List of publications / Evidence of teaching experience (if available)
- Description of research interests and research plans / exposé for a dissertation project (4-6 pages) if the master's thesis was written more than 1 year ago
