Job Description:

The successful candidate will lead our research and development efforts to create sustainable building solutions, focusing on new process technologies and energy efficiency. They will oversee strategic direction, coordinate R&D programs, and develop innovative technology in collaboration with operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic planning and coordination of R&D programs and international projects aligned with the R&D steering committee
  • Developing and implementing innovative technologies to improve energy efficiency, fuel switch, carbon footprint, and digitalization
  • Evaluating external developments for applicability in our industry
  • Optimizing production processes for increased output, energy efficiency, environmental impact, and product quality
  • Leading and developing a team of R&D/project managers and process engineers
  • Budget management for the department cost center
  • Maintaining Health & Safety standards across all aspects
Requirements:
  • Senior leader with an academic engineering background, preferably in process engineering, ceramics, mechanical, or chemical engineering
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, thermal process engineering, heat pump technology, combustion technology, and electrical heating of processes
  • At least 8-10 years of professional experience in the industry, preferably in ceramic building materials
  • Successful managerial experience in R&D and/or production
  • Experience setting up and implementing international projects (R&D and investment)
  • Ability to lead a team of senior experts
  • Knowledge of cooperation with research institutes, universities, and funding bodies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and creativity
  • Good project and people management skills
  • Will to travel frequently
  • Very good command of German and English
