Position Overview

The IAEA is seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of Nuclear Instrumentation Systems Engineer. This position involves a deep understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle and its associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Utilize their knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle, including enrichment facilities and various reactor types.
  • Engage in the deployment and application of nuclear instrumentation, focusing on unattended monitoring systems.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of nuclear detectors and data acquisition systems, particularly for Non-Destructive Analysis (NDA).
Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in physics, applied physics, or nuclear/electrical engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in nuclear instrumentation, especially in unattended applications.
  • Expertise in designing and developing nuclear detection systems, including gamma spectroscopy and neutron counting.
  • Familiarity with NDA software tools such as FRAM, MGA, INCC, and MIC.
  • Experience in modeling complex detector systems using MCNP is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English, with knowledge of additional IAEA official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits

The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, which includes:

  • A tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $64,121, subject to mandatory deductions.
  • A variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $37,126.
  • Additional benefits such as dependency allowances, rental subsidies, and education grants.
  • Generous leave policies, including six weeks of annual leave.
  • Comprehensive pension and health insurance plans.
