Operations Manager - Utilities
UGL is a market leader in providing essential infrastructure services across Australia, with a strong presence in power, water, and gas utilities. Our Utilities Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team is dedicated to maintaining and operating critical assets including transmission lines, substations, electrical distribution networks, wastewater treatment plants, and water pipelines.
Role Overview:
UGL is experiencing robust growth across its national utilities portfolio and is now looking to expand further into Queensland. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead this expansion and manage our Utilities O&M activities in the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving growth, ensuring operational excellence, and leading a team of dedicated professionals in Queensland.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

Provide strategic direction and leadership for all Utilities Programs and Projects across Queensland.
Develop and implement business plans to drive growth and achieve financial targets in the region.
Foster a high-performance culture, promoting teamwork and professional development.

Operations Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of power generation, transmission lines, substations, electrical distribution networks, and water treatment facilities.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
Optimise operational efficiency and resource utilisation.

Project Management:

Lead the planning, execution, and completion of utility projects in Queensland.
Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Address client needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
Represent UGL at industry events and forums.

Financial Management:

Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to improve profitability.
Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in utility operations and maintenance.
Proven track record of leadership in a similar role, managing large teams and complex projects.
Strong understanding of power transmission & distribution.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
