The busy ABC Melbourne Newsroom is a welcoming environment and is seeking expressions of interest from experienced field camera operators to join our team on a casual basis.
This role will see you generate distinctive video and stills content for broadcast, social and digital news coverage.
You will join a supportive, friendly and collaborative team.
The JobYou will:Work collaboratively with journalists and the wider news team to capture quality video content and stillsShoot unstructured actuality or moving events as they unfold in the field as well as structured, reconstruction sequences for news and current affairsShoot and manage video content for live broadcast coverageOperate a range of equipment including cameras, audio, lighting and linksPosition Description: CAMERA OPERATOR_Band 4 - EOI.pdfAbout YouYou're a self-starter, interested in news and with an eye for a good story, who can bring that vision to life with video and stills.
You have experience as a field camera operator and want to develop your skills further in a fast-paced news environment.
This role will be rostered to shifts on an ad-hoc basis across a 7-day roster.
Shift times are spread across the day.
Additional shift penalties for the early and late hours apply.You'll also have:The ability to work as a single-person opoerator to gather high-quality vision and sound in a range of locations, often working to deadline in a high-pressure environment.Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skillsA strong interest in the latest trends in digital video creation with a real passion to experiment and innovate.Hold a current and valid driver's licence with experience driving in variable weather conditions in both city and rural environments.About ABC NewsQuality journalism, powerful investigations, outstanding production, and a collaborative, engaged and supportive workplace that offers opportunities and career development across regional and metropolitan Australia.
