If you feel that you may not tick all the boxes below but believe you have something unique to contribute to our team, we strongly encourage you to apply – let's have the conversation.Reporting to the Underground Mining Manager (Africa), the Senior Specialist: Underground Mining (Africa) provides tactical and operational support, that delivers maximum value for AngloGold Ashanti's operating assets and projects in Africa.The role also provides direct output support to both Site and Regional business units in the identification and adoption of relevant discipline strategy, provision of competent technical support to the operations, provision of governance/assurance and representation of AGA on all matters relating to the discipline including the interaction and benchmarking with peers in the industry.This position requires on-site presence with quarterly travel to the operations. Applicants should be prepared for international travel. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to be based in Perth and have the ability to travel and work in Africa in diverse and challenging operations.Accountabilities:Provide coverage for any resource/capability gap within a mining technical team or project teamProvide alternate Strategic Options for the assets supported, influencing on alternate long-term mine plan options that can add value including ones that may be more difficult to manageLead and assist sites with mine planning, mine designs, schedule and annual budget preparations as requiredMining Lead on technical studies as they occur for the sites supported with major mining related projects at either conceptual, pre-feasibility or feasibility stageAnalyse the operations compliance to budgets/forecasts both in terms of production and costProvide technical assistance and support to sitesProvide support to the Senior Manager Mining and his team.Assist as required with any Underground Planning support on behalf of Underground Mining ManagersPromote innovation and the development and adoption of new technologiesProvide support and facilitate processes with Underground Mining experts to develop benchmark metrics, reports and standards for performance measurementProviding support (and reviewing as required) to the Ghana and Tanzania operations, annual budget, including cookbooks.About YouPeople are at the heart of everything we do.
