Health, Safety & Environment (Construction) Full time
As an OHS Manager, you'll be essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and contractors.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Ensure compliance with all OH&S and Quality policies.Obtain and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and other OH&S documentation from subcontractors before site approval.Conduct site-specific safety inductions for new workers.Review and amend subcontractors' SWMS as needed.Perform regular safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.Hold weekly toolbox meetings to consult on OH&S matters with workgroups and safety representatives.Maintain and update OH&S folders and create new ones for new projects.Oversee compliance of subcontractors, supervise Site Managers' safety practices, and provide PPE to personnel.This is a site-based position.
You will need to have a strong grasp of safety legislation and best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build relationships across the organization.
This role requires a proactive approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities of the role include: Provide support, coordination and advice of Health Safety practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplace.Conduct Health And Safety audits and inspections.Identify hazards and event prevention programs.Implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health, safety and fire prevention.Coordinate the investigation of causes on site and maintain documentation in accordance with Health and Safety procedures.Provide Health and Safety specialist advice and technical input to delivery, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations / risks are identified and communicated appropriately.Maintain records of all Health and Safety requirements at the workplace, in accordance with legislative company requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records.Conduct return to work coordinator activities.To be successful in this key role, you must have: Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.Experience within the Construction Industry.Experience in HSE management techniques and tools.The ability to thrive in a dynamic and busy environment.Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spreadsheet and email software.Ability to conduct and interpret audits and reviews.Culture: SLC Bayside merges professionalism with family values.
