Assistant Secretary – Parliamentary, Audit and Risk Canberra ACT

As Assistant Secretary – Parliamentary, Audit and Risk, you will lead the branch, reporting to the Chief People Officer.
You will provide leadership and strategic oversight for the following as well as serving as the Chief Sustainability Officer, driving departmental sustainability initiatives.
The key duties of the position include: Lead and manage the internal audit, integrity, fraud prevention and enterprise risk functions.
Oversight of business continuity and security services to ensure resilience against potential threats.
Implement effective governance structures for executive boards, ministerial appointments and other key processes.
Management of ministerial services, including parliamentary workflow and systems.
Provision of effective Cabinet liaison and support to the department and Ministers' offices on cabinet business.
Support the department's appearance and response to questions on notice for Senate Estimates and Parliamentary Committee Inquiries and associated workflow.
Support the department's integrity reform agenda and ensure the department has a culture of integrity and accountability.
Champion initiatives within the department that support the NetZero in Government Operations Strategy.
Develop and promote sustainability programs and practices within the department.
Monitor the progress and reporting on the department's sustainability initiatives.
Lead effective complaints handling procedures to ensure accountability and transparency.
Oversee risk management strategies to identify, assess and mitigate potential threats to departmental objectives.
Employment at the Department of Education is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:
Citizenship: Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing.
Security Clearance: This is a designated security assessed position.
The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
