Instructional Design Developer Canberra ACT
About the team The PWSS Academy Team are responsible for delivering an engaging learning experience in leadership, psychosocial safety, induction programs and skill specific training for Parliamentarians and their staff.
We provide this through internally facilitated sessions, contracted service providers, as well as studies assistance and ad hoc training reimbursements.
Our internally facilitated programs are delivered across Australia by our skilled and experienced facilitators to ensure the workforce has the right skills to deliver quality outcomes.
The key duties of the position include: As an Instructional Design Developer, you will design, build and maintain engaging self-paced and instructor-led training products.
Under limited direction, provide instructional design on a range of learning activities for both face-to-face and virtual modes of delivery, with a focus on soft skills, digital and technical skills development.
You will:
Undertake advanced assessment and analysis of learning needs for learning programs through content plan management.
Proficiency in using Articulate 360 or other eLearning tools to design, develop and adapt learning materials to support both face-to-face and virtual training sessions.
Establish and manage collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including liaising with subject matter experts (SMEs), to inform the effective design, development and delivery of learning materials by these SMEs.
Work effectively with the PWSS Academy team to ensure all learning activity in areas of responsibility are accurately scheduled and recorded.
Provide support to learners before, during and after learning activities.
Evaluate and continuously improve all programs in areas of responsibility using a range of feedback mechanisms and sources.
Other duties as required.
Notes This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing.
The role may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to business needs and/or candidate preference.
Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled as a specified term vacancy for an initial period of up to 12 months.
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999 , employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated.
All PWSS staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a mandatory National Criminal History check.

Highly desirable qualifications or technical skills Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
Demonstrated advanced experience in instructional design and facilitation of soft skills, digital and technical learning and development programs, both face to face and virtually.
Excellent knowledge and practical application of adult learning methodologies and instructional design principles.
Demonstrated advanced experience in developing multi modal learning programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage effective collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, both internal and external, at all levels.
Excellent understanding of human centered design and ideation principals.

In addition, the PWSS provides 24 hour independent and confidential support services, for all Commonwealth parliamentary workplace participants.
