Cemeteries & Crematoria NSW (CCNSW) is a statutory agency created in 2014 under the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2013 to support and regulate cemetery and crematoria operators in NSW and provide information on burial and cremation options to the public.
CCNSW is leading transformation of the regulation of the cemeteries and crematoria sector in NSW.
This includes implementing a new scheme licensing operators for the first time, monitoring compliance with new licence conditions, and exploring future directions for the sector and developing policy and regulation in response to emerging issues.
This is a rare, exciting opportunity to join an energised and customer-focused agency tasked with delivering on a clear remit of priorities.
The team is collaborative, responsive and delivery-focused, in the context of a fast-paced and dynamic area of policy and regulation.
The role
The Audit and Compliance (Regulatory) Officer works as part of an Audit and Compliance team to enhance the regulatory compliance of cemetery and crematoria operators in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and standards to meet organisational objectives and community expectations.
This will include planning, prioritising and managing a compliance caseload within set timeframes to achieve high quality outcomes, undertaking a range of regulatory activities including collection and analysis of information from operators, reviewing documents for compliance, conducting assessments and approvals under legislative requirements.
The role will involve a combination of work based in the office and in the field.
The successful candidate will be committed to achieving high quality outcomes in a collaborative environment, a strong customer focus, supporting the regulatory principles of CCNSW (as outlined in the Regulatory Framework), in particular by acting with integrity and implementing best practice audit processes.
What you will bring to the role
Experience in a range of regulatory audit and compliance activities, with a demonstrated ability to manage a compliance caseload and understand and interpret compliance related matters.
Ability to solve problems, navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations.
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
Solid time management and organisational skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with a range of stakeholders and write clear briefings on complex issues.
Ability to analyse and interpret information/data for compliance purposes to identify patterns, recommend actions and next steps.
Experience in cemeteries is highly regarded.

What is an essential requirement:
Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in investigations or undertaking proactive and reactive regulatory functions.
