Rare opportunity to join our tight knit crew at Laika in a management role

The Position: Assistant Venue Manager
As the AVM, you will assist the Venue Manager with the efficient running of the café and the management of our awesome front of house employees.

The venue trades 7 days per week; breakfast and lunch services.
Some functions may require occasional evening shifts.

This is a true 38 hour working week with supportive owners and management team.
Weekend availability essential.

The right candidate will have a passion for the industry and love working in & leading a team.
They will have an interest in driving creative innovation in a well-established venue and will bring a set of fresh eyes to operational procedures.

Responsibilities: Managing FOH opens and closes (including POS reconciliation and locking up of venue).
Ordering and management of stock, including stocktakes and meeting 'cost of goods' KPI's.
Inbox management, including customer and supplier email correspondence.
Leading, training and guiding other team members during shifts; being the point of call for dealing with any customer issues.
Being a role model of an employee, motivating the team to deliver high service standards at all times.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers.
Fostering a positive working relationship with the kitchen team.
Taking charge of the key senior role on weekends, including organising breaks and managing the roster to the requirements of the shift.
Taking full responsibility for the quality of day-to-day operations on the VM's rostered days off.
Handling all function enquiries and working function shifts when necessary.
Having flexibility in working hours to help the team.
Staying back if needed to ensure the team is well supported.
Assisting with barista duties if/when necessary.
Experience: Minimum 2 years hospitality experience.

Notable barista experience highly favourable.

Please note, we are chasing the right person more than the right experience level – if we feel you will be a great fit for the venue and role, we are more than happy to provide ongoing training in areas you may not be as experienced.
